Oak Framed Swimming Pool
This 11m x 4m swimming pool was originally a barn.
The barn was extended with a 10m x 7.5m frame and the original building was re- roofed. The entire roof was covered in Macclesfield stone and weighed over 30 tons Greenwood Oak made a scale model to help the structural engineers to calculate the frame. From this model we finalised the drawings and the frame manufactured.
The frame is designed as an isle frame with structural ridge, purlins, inner and outer wall plates. Some impressive drying cracks have appeared in the oak as a result of heigh temperatures being maintained in the enclosure.
Large windows supply good lighting conditions during the day and the artificial lighting accentuates the frame components at night.
